I don't know that I've ever felt so optimistic and yet so odd about the changing New Year. It seems like nothing at all is the same as it was a year ago, neither in my life nor in my friends' lives. And I know that there are a lot of things that aren't so great right now, but I can't help feeling that everything will work itself out. I have hope and excitement that this year is going to bring a lot of wonderful things for everyone. Really.

So. To begin that, what fun things are we doing to start out this year? So that we don't get bogged down with school right away?

Since everyone else has been sharing pictures of their dresses, I thought I would as well. Hopefully no one picked out the same It's at the bottom of this entry. Albus, I hope it won't clash too terribly with your dress robes?

Also, update on the troll incident: I am recovering still a bit sore perfectly fine. The shock still hasn't worn off yet. I mean, a troll? In Hogwarts?? I hope they've gotten rid of it by now, the thing was terrifying. But thank goodness none of us was too horribly hurt.

So, do you think we have to have dates to the Yule Ball? What if no one asks you? And does anyone know what kind of dancing they do, exactly? I'm just entirely confused about this whole thing. What's the point of it again? Maybe they need some backup musicians or something. I don't even have dress robes.
